Costello-Events > This is the way most mothers carry their babies on their backs. It was a great idea and kept the moms' hands free! They just leaned over, placed the baby on their back, placed a piece of cloth over and kind of under the baby, and then tied it in the front. Voila! Instant baby carrier!
Costello-Events > Our couchette on the way back down to Yaounde. Oh, we were so excited to have this after sitting in the bar car on the way up! We roomed with a nice man who is a geography professor at the University of N'gaoundere. With about 12 bags, Erin and Mike's HUGE trunk, and 4 people, it was cozy!
Costello-Events > This is us with Erin and Mike's neighbor Danielle and her five beautiful daughters, Ruth, Becky, Grace, Mayda, and Joyce. They were staying in Yaounde for the summer with family, so we visited with them there instead of up in Yagoua. Unfortunately we did not get to spend much time with them because we had to get down to Douala...Danielle is Erin's best friend there so it would have been nice to talk more with her. Next time, right!?
Costello-Events > One word: HILTON
Erin's version of heaven on earth for the time being! She called dad from here and told him she doesn't need any Christmas presents...our one night there was all she needed! :) I have to agree, it was not too shabby a place to stay before transitioning back to life in America!
Costello-Events > This is the hotel in Douala that we stayed in our first night in Cameroon, and then Erin stayed here after she left us at the airport. She was thankful to have a nice room with AC to go back and cry in! :)
Costello-Events > The canoe thing is transformed into a serving area at dinner time. The hotel is owned by Germans, so for our first dinner in Cameroon we had grilled sausages! Welcome to Africa, right!?
Costello-Events > Some last minute photos before heading home from the trip of a lifetime!
Costello-Events > We can't wait to have our girl (and Mike too!) home in December! Counting down the days, Erin and Mike!!!
