Costello-Events > If you don't have running water, this is how you get it! A cute little boy or old man will deliver it right to your house or business in this handy push cart. It's about 5 cents per container...what a deal!
Costello-Events > The hotel (would never want to sleep there) and bar we frequent. Across town from our house, but right next door to Mike's work so convenient for those after work "we're frustrated with the world" talks. Plus our English speaking friends from the south of the country own and operate it.
Costello-Events > Chez Emmanuel, a fave restaurant of volunteers in Maroua, our provincial capital.
Costello-Events > Eggs anyone? The best thing about shopping in Cameroon...it shops come to you, including the fast food restaurants. He's even got all the fixins on his head!
Costello-Events > The bus station in Maroua that we use, Danay Express. Notice the wheelbarrow of bread too. Who needs grocery stores anyway?
Costello-Events > Even though there are gas stations here this is the common way to refuel, especially for moto(rcycle)s. Just pull up to the side of the road and someone will funnel a container of gas right into your tank.
Costello-Events > Yagoua's version of IHOP! Each morning these ladies (and many others like them) come out and offer hot beverages and beignets (fried bread) for your eating pleasure. Mostly men gather to eat and chat everyday. Notice the man in the blue walking with the green teapot...he's going to use the latrine (I know because the water in the teapot will be his "toilet paper"), just FYI.
Costello-Events > Our little internet cafe (just happen to sitting here right now). That's Mike on the right, Mollie on the left. Everything we need to "escape" for a bit...A/C, portal to America (the internet), and a nice community center feeling.
Costello-Events > Little boys and some traditional Cameroonian toys, used tires and bike gears. Aren't kids so inventive! And yes, as you notice in the background, there are many unfinished homes and buildings in Cameroon as people can only build when they have sufficient funds, which come and go.
