10 - Waza...and more

One of the two "watering holes" we observed in Waza National Park. It seemed the "Lion King" came to life as we watched all the different animals drinking and sunning themselves together.

A herd of antelope. By far the most abundant animal we saw in the park.

As close as we got to one of the antelope. This big guy just went about eating his lunch as we watched him from the van, then he casually went on his way.

We found this bird and it's amazingly bright colors so beautiful, especially against the rather dull sandy colored landscape.

A black and white version of a picture miraculously captured at just the right time with the bird in flight. The park fit the image of the Africa we always conjured in our minds.

This is a variety of prints...human, birds, some type of cat, car...spied outside the van window. That they can all coexist, nature and man/the modern and the ancient, struck us.

An elephant footprint, and to gauge its size you can see the faint print of my shoe next to it. We never realized even the soles of their feet have wrinkles!

We managed to find one giraffe in the park during the day, and never saw the promised elephants. We left content though. We were rewarded on the drive home by the two more sightings of gir ...

We saw lots of these little tan monkeys throughout the day. These ran across the highway as we made our way home that evening.

A termite hill. They are everywhere! Often times they stand 6 feet tall in thin, tall pillars.
